Online hazardous materials training for employees involved in the transportation, preparation, handling or offering of hazardous materials in the United States.
The US DOT Hazmat Training (49 CFR) provides employees with essential knowledge of the U.S. Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR). The course is designed for personnel whose work involves hazardous materials transported by road, rail, air or water within the United States, or who perform functions regulated under 49 CFR Parts 171–180.
Participants learn how hazardous materials are classified, identified, packaged, marked, labeled and documented. The training also covers placarding requirements, Limited Quantities, incident reporting, personal protective equipment, security awareness and the responsibilities of hazmat employees.
The course has been developed as a practical awareness and compliance training, using clear explanations, realistic examples and visual training material.

Online training
The course is completed entirely online and can be followed at the participant’s own pace. Training modules can be reviewed again before completing the final assessment.
After successfully passing the test, the participant receives a certificate of completion.
49 CFR training requirement
Under 49 CFR §172.704, hazmat employees are required to receive training appropriate to the functions they perform. Depending on their duties, this can include general awareness, function-specific, safety, security awareness and in-depth security training.
This course provides a broad foundation covering these key elements. Employers remain responsible for ensuring that each employee receives any additional function-specific training necessary for the tasks they actually perform.
